Sto AG

Web App System Finder

Interactive product comparison

Facade insulation systems are currently in demand on the market - especially in countries where the use of these products is subsidized by the state and there is a high level of environmental awareness. Germany is in first place here, followed by France, Italy and Austria. The facade insulation systems form the core of the product portfolio of Sto AG). Their presentation is therefore of particular importance, especially as Sto facade insulation systems are complex products, which in turn are made up of various individual Sto products. We have developed the Sto Facade Insulation System Finder to present these adequately and make them comparable with each other: A web application based on Adobe Flash Web technology.

The web application is aimed at architects and craftsmen and enables both a quick, direct introduction to the topic (e.g. directly to StoTherm Classic) and a quick overview of the systems (on HTML level as a simple list and also within the web app as an overview including search or filter function). The user searches by narrowing down the overview of the systems by selecting certain criteria (such as "non-combustible").

External data storage (CMS connection via XML) enables maintenance and easy adaptation for Sto subsidiaries abroad. This involves not only the exchange of texts in other languages, but also changes within the product range.

The web app was published in the following languages and countries:

  • German (versions for DE, CH, AT)
  • English
  • French
  • Dutch
  • Turkish
  • Polish
  • Italian
  • spanish

Addendum: Market changes

In the meantime, the drastic changes driven by Apple in the mobile Internet sector have meant that Adobe Flash technology is hardly an option for future projects. After Apple finally ruled out support for Flash on the iPad and iPhone, Adobe itself finally farewell to Flash.

The technological future for such web applications now lies with Html 5, Css 3 and JavaScript. Nevertheless, the distribution of the Flash plug-in in the desktop area is still almost 100%.
