Atomic design or component-based design conceived in this way forms the basis for a transfer into reusable and expandable code.

In addition to the standards of responsive web design and UX design, other requirements today are the scalability of the design to ever-growing design systems and the collaborative mapping of the design system as an online or living style guide. A living style guide documents both the design and the code "live" and makes both available as a resource.
