Drupal 9 Release
Drupal 9 release - a 20-year project with a future
After 5 years of work, Drupal 9 was released on June 3, 2020. It will then reach its full, new range of functions with version 9.1 (planned for December 2020). Compared to the previous versions, Drupal 9 takes another big step forward. In addition to the technology, the design and user experience/usability have now also been specifically addressed. The Frontend Theme "Olivero" and the Backend Theme "Claro" coming with version 9.1 make a major contribution to this.

In addition to new functionalities such as Workspaces, Help Topics or the CKEditor 5, there are many other important "features" that were developed in the last Drupal 8 versions and are now fully developed: These include, for example, Workflows, the Media Library or the Layout Builder.
Apart from the fact that the planned, continuous further development since Drupal 8 has worked excellently, the following aspect should be emphasized in particular:
"The easiest upgrade in a decade"
If you already have Drupal 8, you will experience a smooth upgrade from Drupal 8 to Drupal 9. And so it should go on to Drupal 10 etc. ... . After the leap from Drupal 7 to Drupal 8 was a big one, the latest technical foundations (with version 8) have been laid, so that Drupal is technically one of the most advanced and can retain this status for the next few years (decades).
