3rd meeting of the Drupal User Group Lake Constance in 2014

The Drupal User Group Lake Constance (DUGB) will take place once a year towards the end of each quarter. The 3rd DUGB meeting is on September 26, 2014 at TzK.

After the first two DUGB meetings were rather general, the 3rd DUGB meeting will now be more technical. In two sessions, Jürgen Haas and Heiko Fischer will present inspiring approaches and solutions from their everyday work as Drupal developers.

Session 1: Effective management of Drupal projects

Session 1: Effective management of Drupal projects

What does a Drupal developer need besides the technical knowledge of PHP, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax and all the other languages and libraries to successfully manage Drupal projects? Jürgen Haas demonstrates his tried-and-tested working environment consisting of the following components:

  • IDE: PhpStorm / InteliJ IDEA
  • Project management: YouTrack
  • Time tracking: Toggl and Toggl button
  • Server installation and maintenance: Ansible
  • Server monitoring: ServerDensity
  • Drupal maintenance: DRD = Drupal Remote Dashboard

All building blocks will be demonstrated live and practical examples will lead to a lively discussion. Every participant at the event will take away a wealth of suggestions that can immediately make their own day-to-day work more efficient without much preparation.

Session 2: Handling sales bazaars with Drupal

Session 2: Handling sales bazaars with Drupal

The Kleiderkiste Pfullendorf organizes a sales event twice a year in the form of a drop-off bazaar. For this purpose, a Drupal application has been and is being implemented to support the organizer in handling the event:

  • Time-controlled online allocation of vendor numbers
  • Sellers enter their items themselves
  • Generation of item lists and labels with barcode (pdf)
  • Article comparison on receipt
  • Cash register function for sales (point of sale)
  • Payment of the seller
  • Invoicing/statistics of the event

The usability for "housewives" (the target group as potential sellers) and the concrete implementation are shown in detail using the example of item management.

Drupal Developer Insights: The sessions will be more spontaneous compared to the presentations from the first two DUGB meetings, according to the motto: less presentation - more interaction. Spontaneous topics or sessions are also welcome ...
