Drupal 8 Release

mobile first & responsive

"Drupal 8 Will Have Something for Everyone to Love"

We tried to find out whether this slogan from the official Drupal site is true and were immediately pleasantly surprised. Mobile First is one of the most important approaches of the new Drupal 8 concept. The standard frontend theme, as well as the entire backend area, are responsive. This makes it easy to add content from your sofa using a tablet and quickly change configurations on the go using a smartphone.

Drupal 8 is mobile first

Drupal 8 is mobile first.

Drupal 8 includes some really nice features "out of the box". For example, it is possible to create multilingual content and translate the interface directly into several languages. Furthermore, views are now integrated into the core and a Wysiwyg Editor is available from the start to mark up content without HTML knowledge. Furthermore, files such as graphics or videos can be managed in Drupal 8 using the integrated file system.

The theming has changed fundamentally. Drupal now relies on the PHP Temlate Engine Twig and thus guarantees flexible, faster and secure templating with simple syntax. The generated markup has also been updated and now relies entirely on HTML 5. Not only theming and markup are to be modernized, the Drupal core has also been adapted to current programming techniques. Object orientation is the keyword here.

One of the biggest changes is the integration of the PHP framework Symfony 2, which should drastically increase the performance and stability of a Drupal installation. In addition, pages should become significantly more maintainable and versionable.

The fact that a Drupal 8 installation can already run error-free is proven by amazeelabs.com. Here, the as yet unreleased CMS was used for a very stylish relaunch of the agency's website - very successful, in our opinion.

The update process from Drupal 7 to Drupal 8 is described as very simple and stress-free, but the switch to the new version should not be underestimated, as many work steps have changed fundamentally. Nevertheless, we are positive about the whole thing and are definitely looking forward to the release.
